When my husband first said we could get a dog I was so excited but didn't know where to start. Gumtree had a lot of advertisements but I didn't know how genuine they would be and I found myself wasting so much time by reading ads and contacting people.
I stumbled across Puppies Australia and instantly felt assured that they were specialists in what they did. The website was clear, they showed what puppies they had available and as silly as it sounds, they had an active Instagram account which showed the dogs and their surroundings.
I messaged them on Instagram as they had recently posted about puppies for sale. Jade instantly got back to me asking a few more questions about the type of dog I wanted and after a few messages we arranged for me to come and visit them in person. You can't just show up, you must book in after showing a genuine interest. They were based around 3 hours from me so I had to be sure I wanted to make the trip but I felt really positive after speaking to her. They obviously loved what they did and most importantly loved the dogs so much it that was important to them to match them up with the right owner.
I wasn't sure what to expect at a breeding facility but I can honestly say I was so impressed and have since recommended others to Puppies Australia. The dogs have access to fields as far as the eye can see and the conditions they are kept in are a far cry from the horrible stories you hear people gossiping about. The dogs are mostly separated by breed but kept within their own litter and once you tell them what you are after they filter it right down and bring the puppies out to you. The dogs were so friendly and happy and clearly have been brought up with love.
We met Jade, Greg and Selena who all passionately spoke of ensuring they did the right thing by the puppies and their upbringing - this a business and they obviously care very much about their authenticity and ensuring their reputation is only positive.
After spending an hour there we finally chose Rupert, a gorgeous Cavoodle who has become our world. We met his parents Queen B and Pierre, and if I had it my way we would have bought them all. Funnily enough we chose him because he was fairly chilled but we later discovered he had just hurt his paw and was soon zipping around just as happy as the others.
We weren't in a position to bring him home with us that day but we completed the paperwork. Greg and Selena very kindly offered to bring him with them when they visited Melbourne the following week and we collected him from there. In that week Jade sent me videos of him running around and updates on his paw which only got me more excited.
I have since created an Instagram account for Rupert which Greg, Jade and Puppies Australia follow and regular comments go back and forth on what a lovely little dog he has grown into. I also get messages asking where I got him from and I always point them in the direction of Puppies Australia.
If we get another dog there's no doubt in my mind that I'll be returning to Puppies Australia. The whole process from start to finish was seamless and I can honestly say they care about their dogs even after they go to their forever home.
Thanks for raising such perfect little pups 🙂
